EU

Trying to avoid a bit of a tirade here.

- Europeans complaining about American protectionism are freaking hypocrites. Just look at the business practices that have led to Airbus gaining world prominence. Boeing isn't competing on even ground due. It would be nice for the Europeans to have some notion of fair play.

- The Kyoto accords were a joke. Granted that the Bush administration exhibited it's typical diplomatic ineptitude when pulling out, but Kyoto seemed like anti-American protectionism masquerading as environmental policy. Once they can't achieve the true goals of Kyoto, of course the Europeans backslide.

- I'm a big fan of accountability in all forms, especially government. The American theory for government, that power flows up from the people, is a wonderful (if sometimes painfully slow to resolve) implementation of accountability in government. I don't like the EU philosophy of government, that unelected beurocrats, with no accountability, in Brussells have dictatorial say over the policies of an entire continent. I guess Europeans don't care to participate in their own government.
